FLANDERS performs standard, no-load testing with vibration analysis on motors of all sizes and horsepower.

In mining and heavy industry, the stakes are too high in every dimension to compromise on quality, performance, or safety. So we’ve built a 5 MW test facility, powered by onsite diesel generators, that’s capable of testing the largest electric rotating equipment used in heavy industry.

We rigorously performance test every FLANDERS manufactured AC or DC machine—well as anything we repair or rebuild for you—to confirm it’s fit for duty.

Testing newly manufactured equipment

Putting new motors through their paces

For every new FLANDERS motor, generator, or alternator, we perform combinations of these tests to confirm field readiness:

  • No-load excitation testing
  • No-load speed testing
  • Vibration testing, using an isolated test base base to ensure accurate readings
  • Full-range variable frequency testing for AC machines
  • Load testing
  • Speed torque curve validation
  • Temperature rise tests to validate HP using embedded RTDs

Motor control

For drives, we test communications boards and input/output boards, and for control systems, we do factory acceptance testing of manufactured panels and components through simulations.

Fine tuning for faster commissioning

Based on our test results, we tune our electric rotating equipment before it leaves the shop so that commissioning goes faster and more smoothly.

Field diagnostics

We have full field testing capabilities for the largest electric motors used in heavy industry, and we also do encoder testing, and troubleshooting
for control systems and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
