“When I look for candidates to join our family, I am searching for something special. Yes, the skill and technique are important, but I am also looking for intangible traits that aren’t easily taught. Things like enthusiasm, drive, and humility.”
In a 45-day field-engineering sprint, FLANDERS engineers, designers, field staff, technicians, and logisticians—working onsite at the mine, at one of our Regional Service Centers, and at our global headquarters in Evansville, Indiana—turned a blasthole drill that had burned out in a fire into a fully automated machine.
For the project we used our pioneering FREEDOM control system, developed in-house by FLANDERS mining machine experts in collaboration with our electromechanical, software, and automation engineers. The resulting system increased the productivity of the drill by 30%. Now deployed on all 14 drills in the mining fleet, this FREEDOM for Drills solution also keeps machine operators safely out of harm’s way during high-risk drilling operations.
This is FLANDERS innovation, collaboration, and exceptional service in action—and the kind of project we work on every day.
“At FLANDERS we want to provide a meaningful place for people to work. We want people to understand why what they do is important to the big picture and that they are important to our success. It is important to me that employees know that they are not just a number but a person who we want to take care of, as a company.”
