Converting motors and drives from DC to AC

We can readily upgrade your machine to AC power without modifying the machine’s fit-for-purpose DC motor frame, and we have a couple of options for how to approach it.
FLANDERS can handle the start-to-finish DC to AC upgrade of motors, drives, and controls, or we can upgrade the motor and leave it to your team or a partner to make the corresponding DC to AC drive upgrade.
Our engineering team has designed quite a few higher-performance, FLANDERS-original motors and drives, which we custom manufacture. We also offer systems by Siemens—we’re an authorized Siemens Solution Partner—as well as Toshiba, Allen-Bradley, and other manufacturers.
Cooling systems
FLANDERS also designs cooling systems for our DC to AC retrofits. The rotating pieces in DC and AC motors heat differently, so they need different cooling systems. Airflow is a critical design and engineering consideration if we’re using the same motor frame.
Additionally, we can convert air-cooled power systems to water-cooled systems to reduce maintenance, energy consumption, and noise.
